Aqua One Sponges are specifically designed to remove the larger particles from your aquarium.The Sponge is made from high grade open pored foam, so the water that passes through the sponge will be cleaned of larger particles.The Sponge will serve as a Biological and Mechanical filter, essential to the health of your aquarium. Sponges are disposable.However, they will last longer than Wool filter pads, however your Sponge should be replaced as soon as it loses shape.Failure to do so will lead to particles “avoiding” the filtering process.
